KSTAR Drives Energy Transformation in León Through the Deployment of Large-Scale Industrial Storage Systems
KSTAR News, 2026.5.6
KSTAR, in collaboration with Norsol, has supported the city ofLeónin implementing a large-scale photovoltaic and energy storage project, marking a significant step toward a smarter, decentralised, and more resilient municipal energy system.
This initiative addresses the growing need for cities to reduce energy costs, meet climate targets, and enhance the reliability of essential public services.

At the heart of the project is KSTAR’s BluePulse energy storage technology, deployed across 10 municipal facilities and combined with 11 photovoltaic systems. The system provides a total storage capacity of 1.97 MWh and inverter power of 2.12 MW, enabling the generation of approximately 3.9 million kWh of clean energy annually.
The installation is expected to deliver estimated savings of around €620,000 for the municipality, while also reducing CO₂ emissions by approximately 860 tonnes per year.
The solutions have been implemented in key public service infrastructures, including sports centers, administrative buildings, and waste management plants, ensuring that essential municipal operations directly benefit from improved energy efficiency and resilience.

Beyond individual installations, the systems operate as a coordinated energy network, effectively forming a municipal-scale virtual power plant. This highlights KSTAR’s ability to transform distributed assets into a unified and intelligent energy system – improving demand management, strengthening grid stability, and maximising the use of renewable energy sources.
The project demonstrates the strength of KSTAR’s integrated BluePulse architecture, which combines the KAC50DP hybrid inverter with the BC197DE battery cabinet (197 kWh). This standardised modular design has enabled rapid large-scale deployment across diverse municipal sites, while ensuring high system consistency and simplified integration.

It also supports key applications such as self-consumption optimisation, peak demand reduction, and reliable backup power supply for critical loads.
The León case stands as a clear example of how KSTAR’s energy storage solutions empower cities to accelerate their transition toward sustainable and future-ready energy infrastructure, driven by scalable, high-performance technology.
